Below are a few frequently asked questions regarding the Beracah Homes company and our product. If your question is not answered below, please feel free to contact us to ask your question.

Q: Where did the name "Beracah" come from and how is it pronounced?

A: According to Wikipedia, "Beracah is the name of a valley in the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament). It was named the "Valley of Blessings ("blessing" is "Berakhah" in Hebrew) by Jehoshaphat after his victory over Moab and Ammon, as is recounted in the Book of Chronicles."

The founders of Beracah Homes were out to dinner one night in 2002 with their wives. One spouse had been thinking of a name for the company including the words "blessing" or "blessed." The other spouse had been thinking of the word "beracah" since it means "blessing." All involved certainly considered themselves blessed to be a part of such a great opportunity and the company name was decided.

The pronunciation is "Bear'-eh-ka" with the emphasis on the first syllable

Q: Can I custom design my home, or must I choose from stock plans?

A: You have the flexibility to design the home of your dreams, however it is helpful to choose one of our over 80+ home plans then modify it to fit your individual needs. Many customers come to us with a rough idea of a plan; then our designers and engineers take those ideas and design your home to specifications. From a simple entry-level starter home, a retirement home, second home, to an extremely custom 10,000+ sq. ft showplaces... build your custom designed home with Beracah. It's important to note that not all architectural styles will lend themselves to modular design. Concessions may need to be made to allow for your home to built in several units.

Q: Are all "Modular" homes the same?

A: No.  A Beracah Home is the pinnacle of a quality, a custom modular home.  Every home built in our Greenwood, Delaware factory uses more lumber and carries higher standard specifications than nearly all stick builders.  Beracah uses the phrase "off-site, stick built" to describe your home - stick built just as you would a custom home, simply built off-site. Q: What is the difference between a Modular Home and a traditional Stick Built Home?

A: A modular home is built the same as a "stick built" home - from the ground up. Beracah Homes are built to the same local and national building codes all site-built homes are. All local and state inspections occur just the same. One exception, is that a modular home traditionally has a "marriage wall" in the center of the house, which adds structural stiffness so the home can be transported. Unlike other modular home companies, your Beracah Home is not panelized. You'll find the same stick framing techniques in our factory, as stick builders/custom site builders use in the field.
