Happy 20th Anniversary

Today is Beracah Home's official 20th Anniversary!  This morning, Roger Collison (CEO) shared a quick email with the Beracah team to celebrate the occasion, reflect on our story through the years, thank our team, and look forward to our future.  If you are unfamiliar with Beracah's history - it's a wonderful story of small business success built around faith, integrity, service, and teamwork.  Thank you for building with us & being part of our journey!

Good Morning Beracah Fam,

20 years ago today, Friday, February 28, 2003, my father, Wayne Collison, and his partner, Jeff Bowers, settled on the purchase of Nanticoke Homes from the Bankruptcy Court.  They then shelved the Nanticoke name and began operation as Beracah Homes.  Beracah means "Blessed" in Hebrew.  My mom, Brenda, came up with that name, and since Jeff's wife, Wanda, was thinking about some type of name with the words blessing in it, the name stuck.

I quit being a School Counselor the day before and began with Jeff and Dad.  We had no idea what we were doing.  The first person we had already lined up for the team was John Meredith.  We were told, you don't want to buy it if you can't get John on board.  We continued to put together a raggedy crew and started from scratch, no orders, no inventory, no employees.  Kinda scary to think about.  Dad, a dairy farmer, and Jeff a now retired State Trooper building homes and running a factory.

Fast forward to today, 20 years and approximately 2,500 homes later.  Beracah has seen many highs and few lows.  The boom time from 2003-2007 helped us launch in a hot market making many mistakes.  The 2008 Great Recession taught us how to run safer, more efficiently, and build a better, more energy-efficient product.  2012 saw my Dad's passing and a real identity crisis for the company, and for me personally.  If it weren't for Ty's strong leadership and the grace of God, we wouldn't still be here.  

The team has ALWAYS come together when the chips are down.  It amazes me.  Such good people, building such great homes, day in and day out, always striving to do the right thing.  And as we face uncertain global and economic futures and the challenges that will no doubt present themselves, I expect nothing less from Beracah Homes and its wonderful employees.  The continued mission is to build great homes, treating each other and our customers with love and respect, going the extra mile, and always trying to treat others like we would like to be treated.

Here's to 20 great years!  And 20 more to come!
